Soccer Game Preview: Viera vs. Merritt Island + Official Tickets

The Viera Hawks will square off against the Merritt Island Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Viera will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

If Merritt Island heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Viera took over last week. The Hawks came out on top against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy by a score of 3-1 last Monday. Given Viera's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy are ranked 227th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Caroline Detwiler and Eva McMenemy-Hoang scored all three of Viera's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Merritt Island kept a clean sheet against Vero Beach on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Indians.

The victory got Merritt Island back to even at 2-2-2. As for Viera, their record is now 6-3.

Viera beat Merritt Island 3-1 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
