Basketball Game Preview: Canton C-Hawks vs. Madison Bulldogs

Canton hasn't had much luck against Madison recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Canton C-Hawks will face off against the Madison Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Canton is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Baltic, falling 64-40. While losing is never fun, the C-Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-41, which was the final score in Madison's tilt against West Central on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Canton came up short against Madison in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 80-74. Can Canton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
