The King Philip Regional Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Canton Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Canton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on King Philip Regional, who comes in off a win.
King Philip Regional had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Stoughton on Thursday. The Warriors never let the Black Knights get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Black Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Ryan Higgins's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Johnny Prater was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Tommy Gately was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Canton suffered their closest defeat since May 23, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Mansfield by a score of 3-1. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Chris Pirrera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Canton is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4-1 otherwise.
King Philip Regional's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King Philip Regional has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Canton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went King Philip Regional's way against Canton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as King Philip Regional made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
