Basketball Recap: Tuscarawas Central Catholic Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Melody Johnson and Julia Sciarretti

If Tuscarawas Central Catholic was feeling good fresh off their 47-21 takedown of Bridgeport last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckeye Trail Warriors on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Julia Sciarretti and Melody Johnson. Sciarretti posted 17 points and four steals, while Johnson scored two points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks. Sciarretti is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Angel Mcconnell also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Buckeye Trail, their record is now 7-10.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic will welcome Malvern at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tuscarawas Central Catholic is on a three-game streak of home wins, Malvern a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Buckeye Trail, they will head out on the road to square off against East Canton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
