Football Recap: Marianna Comes Up Short

Marianna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 42-8 loss at the hands of the Holmes County Blue Devils. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.

Even if they lost, Marianna's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brantley Basford, Trucker Johnson, and Dominic Garcia, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Marianna's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Holmes County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marianna will host Taylor County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Taylor County's defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so Marianna's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Holmes County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Blountstown at 7:00 p.m. The Blue Devils will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
