Baseball Game Preview: St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers vs. Catholic Central Hilltoppers

For the second straight game, St. John's Northwestern Military Academy will face off against Catholic Central. The Lancers will square off against the Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy let Catholic Central stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Tuesday but luckily St. John's Northwestern Military Academy prevailed anyway. The Lancers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hilltoppers 7-5.

Matthias Ericksen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-5 otherwise. Ericksen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Ericksen wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grady Braaten, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Braaten has hit this season.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's record now sits at 3-6. As for Catholic Central, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
