Doniphan scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 74-73 to the Van Buren Bulldogs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (58), the Dons still had to take the loss.

With the loss, Doniphan broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3. As for Van Buren, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Doniphan will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Puxico at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Van Buren, they and East Prairie will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Van Buren knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully East Prairie likes a good challenge.
