Arlington faced Somerville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Spy Ponders put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Spy Ponders haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

While Arlington won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-17, 25-18.

Matthew Lee paced Arlington's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lee got some help from Ian Lewis and his 11 assists. Finally, Noah Jepsen kept Arlington's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Arlington now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Somerville, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
