            Baseball Recap: Purnell Swett Rams vs. Lumberton Pirates        
        
		
        
        
            Purnell Swett was the  9-4 winner over Lumberton when they last played one another  back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Purnell Swett fell just short of Lumberton by a score of  3-2 on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

 Chandon Sanderson put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. Purnell Swett is 2-1 when  Sanderson allowsone or  fewer  earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Sanderson was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in April of 2024.
 Sanderson wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Conley Jacobs, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Purnell Swett now  has a losing record of 5-6. As for Lumberton, the  victory was  the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Purnell Swett is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Seventy-First  at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lumberton will  take on  rival Cape Fear  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (Lumberton 3.2, Cape Fear 2.8) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
