Softball Recap: Granite Hills Comes Up Short

Granite Hills was the 5-4 winner over Santana when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Granite Hills Eagles fell just short of the Santana Sultans by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.

Peyton Wells was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Granite Hills saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Cirar, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Even though they lost, Granite Hills hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santana struck out seven times.

Granite Hills now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for Santana, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Coincidentally, Granite Hills and Santana will both be playing La Costa Canyon the next time they take the field. Granite Hills will head out to face La Costa Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Santana will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
