Preview: Mill Springs Academy vs. Cottage Cougars

Mill Springs Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Cottage Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mill Springs Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Cottage likes a good challenge.

Mill Springs Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 80-35 win over Atlanta Area School for the Deaf at home. With that victory, Mill Springs Academy brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.

It was another big night for Ryan Frommer, who almost dropped a double-double on 38 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hampton Hill, who scored 18 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Cottage didn't have too much trouble with Howard on the road on Thursday as they won 53-34. Cottage pushed the score to 40-18 by the end of the third, a deficit Howard cut but never quite recovered from.

Cottage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maxwell Lagan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Andrew Dorsey was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.

Mill Springs Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Cottage, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mill Springs Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cottage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Mill Springs Academy skirted past Cottage 36-33 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mill Springs Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
