Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Pumas vs. Arlington Lions

The Chaparral Pumas will venture away from home to take on the Arlington Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaparral will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Chaparral saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Roosevelt. The four-run effort marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Sebastian Zuniga looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Wetzel, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

Chaparral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Arlington's offense. They fell just short of Ayala by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that the Lions let down their fans at home.

Arlington's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Chaparral, their record is now 5-0.
