Basketball Game Preview: Nimitz Vikings vs. Pearce Mustangs

Nimitz hasn't had much luck against Pearce recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Nimitz Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Pearce Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, Nimitz was beaten by Lake Highlands 63-30. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Pearce couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 54-25 blowout they got against MacArthur. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Cardinals are ranked 1155th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nimitz's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Pearce, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Nimitz, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to Pearce when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Nimitz avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
