Basketball Game Preview: Proviso East Pirates vs. Lake Park Lancers

The Proviso East Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Park Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Proviso East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Proviso East was able to grind out a solid victory over Thornton Fractional North, taking the game 64-55. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Meteors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Proviso East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Pickens led the charge by putting up 17 points and five assists. Pickens' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarret Swift, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Lake Park beat Wheaton North 47-39 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Proviso East's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Lake Park, their record is now 12-18.
