Baseball Recap: Esperanza Wins Going Away Against Anaheim

Esperanza waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Anaheim Colonists 13-2. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Aztecs this season.

Adam Tway was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Tway was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Esperanza is undefeated when Tway posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tungsten DeArte was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Santos, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Esperanza kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.2.

The win got Esperanza back to even at 7-7. As for Anaheim, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Esperanza will face off against Troy at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Anaheim, they will square off against Estancia at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
