Baseball Recap: Taylor Gets the Win

Taylor lost to Matanzas last Wednesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 11-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Chase Heimbach was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Heimbach was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Drew Moyer and Jace Harcus did most of the damage at the plate: Moyer got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Harcus went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI was Moyer's first of the season. Micah Ritch was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Taylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.

The victory got Taylor back to even at 2-2. As for Matanzas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Taylor will venture away from home to take on Crescent City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Matanzas, they will head out to square off against Palatka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
