Soccer Game Preview: Chapin vs. Irmo

The Chapin Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Irmo Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapin will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Chapin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: River Bluff, who was ranked 21st at the time (Chapin was ranked 16th). Chapin's defense stepped up to hand River Bluff a 2-0 shutout on Friday. The game was the first time Chapin have beaten River Bluff on their pitch since April 29, 2021.

Meanwhile, Irmo won against White Knoll on Friday with four goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Saturday. Everything went Irmo's way against Westwood as Irmo made off with a 4-0 win. Considering Irmo have won four matches by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory made it two in a row for Irmo and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Chapin, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Everything went Chapin's way against Irmo in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Chapin made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chapin since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
