Preview: Pickerington North Panthers vs. Grove City Greyhounds

Pickerington North has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Grove City Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Pickerington North earned a 63-50 victory over Westland. Given Pickerington North's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Westland is ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Grove City beat Westerville Central 60-54 on Friday.

Grove City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kraig Gilbert led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kevin Gallagher, who scored 15 points.

Pickerington North's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Grove City, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Pickerington North came out on top in a nail-biter against Grove City in their previous meeting on January 5th, sneaking past 52-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pickerington North since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
