Basketball Game Preview: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Franklin Wildcats

Elk Grove and Franklin are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Elk Grove Thundering Herd will be playing at home against the Franklin Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elk Grove has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three games.

Last Wednesday, Elk Grove strolled past Pleasant Grove with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. Given the Thundering Herd's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Eagles are ranked 553rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elk Grove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jason Raga out in front who posted 11 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Raga a new career-high in boards. Danny Dennaoui was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Franklin's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were beaten by Sheldon 90-52. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-19.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Elk Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
