Softball Game Preview: Maconaquah Braves vs. Northwestern Tigers

Maconaquah is 0-4 against Northwestern since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Braves will welcome the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maconaquah played in-conference for the first time on Monday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against Northfield by a score of 10-7. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Norsemen recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Blayklee Buman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Buman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Ireland Kile was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Shaela Brazzel was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Maconaquah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Northwestern had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Peru a 1-0 shutout on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Stevie-Rae Hedges, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Peru off the board.

Maconaquah's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Northwestern, their win bumped their record up to 8-14.
