Baseball Recap: Great Oak Drops Highest Score of Season Against Temecula Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Oak). They put the hurt on the Temecula Valley Golden Bears with a sharp 13-5 win on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tyler Bussey looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Sam Pink was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Valenzuela, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Great Oak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Great Oak has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Temecula Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
