Softball Recap: Gibbs Gets the Win

While Gibbs's victory against William Blount wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Governors on Saturday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Governors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Presley Swiney, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shelby Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Gibbs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 14-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gibbs' win bumped their record up to 20-9-2. As for William Blount, they moved to 19-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Gibbs wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against Baylor on the 11th. As for William Blount, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maryville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
