Football Game Preview: Williamson Lions vs. UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Alvin Dinkins and Max Fowler are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Williamson Lions will welcome the UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

UMS-Wright Prep's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Williamson hadn't allowed a single point the last three times they've hit the field. The Lions blew past Faith Academy 54-0 on Friday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Rams are ranked 166th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Todrick Withers was his usual excellent self, rushing for 231 yards and three TDs while picking up 14.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 39 receiving yards. Those 231 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. John Austin was another key player, picking up 138 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Williamson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Captain Munnerlyn and Jaylen Scott. Scott is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 18 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Faith Academy's side was Jamarcus Lett, who made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, UMS-Wright Prep got the win against Citronelle on Friday by a conclusive 34-14. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-7.

The win made it two in a row for UMS-Wright Prep and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Williamson, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Williamson beat UMS-Wright Prep 20-9 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
