Baseball Recap: Golden Valley Bulldogs vs. Foothill Trojans

Golden Valley extended their losing streak to ten on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-18-1 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Foothill Trojans. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Eathan Allen was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Foothill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Foothill's side, Ramon Diaz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Diaz was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Joaquin Carrillo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Diaz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Levi Price, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

While Golden Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
