Baseball Recap: Woodsboro Comes Up Short

Woodsboro managed to slip by Pettus the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Woodsboro lost 20-11 to Pettus on Friday. Even if Woodsboro couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Cole Spalek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Woodsboro's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 4-1 (and 4-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Smith, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Woodsboro has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Pettus, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season.
