Basketball Recap: Phelps Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Phelps had won seven straight games and Caleigh McCoy did her part to make it eight on Thursday. The Phelps Hornets narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cherokee Chiefs 62-60 thanks in part to McCoy, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 34 points and five rebounds. The matchup was her ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Phelps pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cherokee, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Phelps didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-42 win against South Greene on the 20th. As for Cherokee, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on University School at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
