Baseball Game Preview: West Clermont Wolves vs. Anderson Raptors

The West Clermont Wolves will head out to challenge the Anderson Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

West Clermont came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-1 to Milford. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolves have suffered since April 29th.

West Clermont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Speranza, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Anderson was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Highlands 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raptors have posted since April 21st.

The team relied heavily on Eric Fleetwood, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Anderson is 6-2 when Fleetwood posts three or more RBI, but 6-7 otherwise.

Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Anderson has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for West Clermont, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Clermont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Anderson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts.
