Softball Recap: Cleveland Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gardendale, Cleveland was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Mountain Brook Spartans.

Klaire Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Mason, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Allison Farnsworth was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Cleveland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Brook only posted an OBP of .348.

The victory got Cleveland back to even at 3-3. As for Mountain Brook, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Cleveland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against Spain Park on the 8th. As for Mountain Brook, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-0 win against Huffman on the 11th.
