Baseball Game Preview: Doane Academy vs. Newark Academy Minutemen

For the second straight game, Doane Academy will face off against Newark Academy. Doane Academy will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Newark Academy at 4:00 p.m. Doane Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Newark Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Doane Academy came up short against Newark Academy and fell 5-1. Doane Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Newark Academy's part, David Guadiane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Guadiane has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jared Levine was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Sampson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Newark Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Doane Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.
