Preview: Century Centurions vs. Murphysboro Red Devils

The Century Centurions will head out on the road to take on the Murphysboro Red Devils at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Century has ten straight wins, Murphysboro has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Century put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 51-24 victory over Webber. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Century has posted since December 7, 2023.

Century's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Navaeh Mackins, who scored ten points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Mackins continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashton Dillow, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Murphysboro was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 37-33 to Metro-East Lutheran.

Century's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.44 points. As for Murphysboro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-20.

Everything came up roses for Century against Murphysboro in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Century since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
