Basketball Recap: Dereon Truesdale's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Wayne Bishop Luers over Fort Wayne Wayne

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers lost against Fort Wayne Wayne back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights fell 74-66 to the Fort Wayne Wayne Generals.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dereon Truesdale, who posted 22 points and six boards. That's the most points Truesdale has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drelyn Truesdale, who went 6 for 9 en route to 20 points.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers will host DeKalb at 1:30 p.m. on February 8th. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Wayne Wayne knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian likes a good challenge.
