Softball Recap: Huron Sets Scoring Season-High Against Jackson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Huron). They blew past the Jackson Vikings 27-5 on Wednesday. With that win, the River Rats brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Olivia Finnie made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs but no hits. Finnie was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mya Stewart, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jillian Williamson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Huron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .868. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Huron's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huron will take on Whitmore Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jackson, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m.
