Basketball Recap: Platte Valley Beats Gunnison for Their Fifth Straight Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Platte Valley had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 41-34 victory over the Gunnison Cowboys. The win was nothing new for the Broncos as they're now sitting on five straight.

Platte Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauryn Uyemura led the charge by putting up 17 points and six steals. Uyemura has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 39 times she's played. Bryla Bunting was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards.

Platte Valley's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Gunnison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.

Coming up, Platte Valley and Resurrection Christian will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Uyemura and Olivia Klein. Gunnison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
