Chico is 9-1 against Shasta since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Panthers will host the Wolves at 2:00 p.m. Chico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Chico's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Red Bluff with a sharp 19-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jorden Neugebauer made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Chico let Jaxxon Tweedt and Tanner Horn run wild. Tweedt went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Horn went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Horn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Heckathorn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Chico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Shasta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Pleasant Valley, falling 11-1.
Shasta saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Chico has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Shasta, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chico hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Shasta struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Chico's way against Shasta when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Chico made off with a 12-4 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
