Softball Game Preview: WF West Bearcats vs. Aberdeen Bobcats

The WF West Bearcats will square off against the Aberdeen Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

WF West is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 26 runs last Monday, they were much more limited against Centralia last Wednesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Hoquiam as they made off with an 18-1 win. Considering the Bobcats have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lilly Camp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Yakovich, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Zoe Vessey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Aberdeen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Aberdeen's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for WF West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
