Volleyball Game Preview: Hayward Farmers vs. San Leandro Pirates

Hayward hasn't had much luck against San Leandro recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Farmers will challenge the Pirates at 5:45 p.m. Hayward will be strutting in after a victory while San Leandro will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Hayward got the win against San Lorenzo by a conclusive 3-0. The Farmers haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Hayward didn't let San Lorenzo take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-22.

Meanwhile, San Leandro suffered their biggest defeat since April 30, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Bishop O'Dowd, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost seven in a row.

San Leandro was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Bishop O'Dowd work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-14, 25-22.

Hayward's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for San Leandro, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Hayward couldn't quite get it done against San Leandro in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Farmers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
