Basketball Recap: Valarie Guerrero Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cloudcroft

Lordsburg won the last time they faced Cloudcroft and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lordsburg Mavericks took down the Cloudcroft Bears 55-40. That's two games straight that the Mavericks have won by exactly 15 points.

Lordsburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Valarie Guerrero out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. The game was Guerrero's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Guerrero, who posted eight points and 23 rebounds.

Lordsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points over those games. As for Cloudcroft, they dropped their record down to 7-17 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Lordsburg has already played their next matchup, a 67-49 defeat against Mescalero Apache on the 15th. As for Cloudcroft, they will face off against Capitan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
