Baseball Game Preview: South Park Eagles vs. Riverside Panthers

The South Park Eagles will square off against the Riverside Panthers on Monday. The last four games South Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

South Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Quaker Valley 6-5.

Meanwhile, Riverside put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Mohawk Area. Considering the Panthers have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mohawk Area's batters probably weren't too happy with Zach Hare, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up three walks). Hare has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Meyer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sean Hayes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mohawk Area only posted a batting average of .000.

South Park is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their record now sits at 19-2.
