Sunny Hills is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing El Modena: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sunny Hills blew El Modena out of the water with a 67-31 final score. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Vanguards are ranked 945th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pierrce Sandle had an outrageously good game as he went 5 for 7 on his way to 15 points and eight boards. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Johnson, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Brea Olinda lost 70-46 to Esperanza on Tuesday.

Sunny Hills' victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Brea Olinda, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Sunny Hills was able to grind out a solid win over Brea Olinda when the teams last played on January 7th, winning 59-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sunny Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
