Basketball Recap: Macon County Takes a Loss

Macon County played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Portland Panthers, falling 69-37. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-15.

Leading Portland to victory were Nate Honeycutt and Tristan Calvert. Honeycutt went 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds, while Calvert went 8 for 14 en route to 19 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Honeycutt a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Evan Brown, who posted six points and six assists.

Macon County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Portland, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Macon County has already played their next game (against Allen County-Scottsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Portland will host White House at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. White House is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.
