Preview: Cromwell Cardinals vs. McGregor Mercuries
Cromwell has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the McGregor Mercuries at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cromwell's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
In what's become a running theme this season, Cromwell gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Northland 94-65 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Cromwell has posted since December 8, 2023.
It was another big night for Brady Dahl, who scored 26 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tucker Korpi, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
McGregor suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 83-44 loss at the hands of Barnum. While losing is never fun, McGregor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Barnum is ranked 190th).
Cromwell's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for McGregor, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cromwell against McGregor when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 83-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cromwell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
