Softball Game Preview: Santa Barbara Dons vs. Bishop Diego Cardinals

The Santa Barbara Dons will head out to face off against the Bishop Diego Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Saturday, Santa Barbara got the win against Channel Islands by a conclusive 14-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dons.

Santa Barbara got a massive performance out of Laila Hernandez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Hernandez has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleeya Zaragoza, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, everything went Bishop Diego's way against Oakwood on Friday as Bishop Diego made off with a 15-1 victory.

Penny Carroll was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Anna Fittipaldi was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Bishop Diego's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Santa Barbara, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Santa Barbara took their victory against Bishop Diego when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Barbara since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
