            Baseball Recap: Fountain Valley Barons vs. El Segundo Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Fountain Valley had no problem doing just that  on Friday. They skirted past the El Segundo Eagles  4-2. This was payback for the Barons, who suffered  a  2-1  loss the last time these two teams met.

 Tyler Peshke was a  major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. He is becoming a predictor of Fountain Valley's success: when he allows at  most one  hit the team is 8-3 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Peshke was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-4 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 In other pitching news,  Nathan Martinez looked comfortable as he  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. He has become a key player for Fountain Valley: the team is 8-4 when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.
 Back at the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Mikey Patterson, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
 Fountain Valley  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Segundo only posted  an  OBP of  .300.
Fountain Valley's record now sits at 16-13. As for El Segundo, they dropped their record down to 19-9-1 with the  defeat, which was their third straight  on the road.
 Fountain Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  7-0  victory against Trabuco Hills on the 20th. El Segundo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
