Volleyball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Comes Up Short

Wheatland-Grinnell lost against Thomas More Prep-Marian back in August of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Thunderhawks fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 2-1. While the Thunderhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Monarchs 25-20 in the first set.

Wheatland-Grinnell started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-11, 25-16.

Aliviah Ball paced Wheatland-Grinnell's offense, picking up nine kills. Ball got some help from Evangeline Godek and her 17 assists. Brielle Hanna controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Wheatland-Grinnell has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11.

Wheatland-Grinnell has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Garden Plain on the 4th. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Wichita County on the 4th.
