Basketball Game Preview: Northeast Eagles vs. Meade Mustangs

The Northeast Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Meade Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Northeast has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight defeats, while Meade will come in with eight straight victories.

On Tuesday, Northeast lost to Glen Burnie on the road by a 62-46 margin.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Meade ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against North County by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. 59 seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Northeast better focus on containing Keon Scott and Ashton Turman as the pair were huge in Meade's win. Scott posted 21 points, while Turman earned 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Johnson, who scored eight points.

Meade pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Northeast won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, slipping by Meade 56-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northeast since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
