Santa Rosa Academy hasn't had much luck against Nuview Bridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rangers will face off against the Knights at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Santa Rosa Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Rangers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Maxwell Dupree made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Santa Rosa Academy is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10 otherwise. Dupree was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, Santa Rosa Academy got a massive performance out of Luke Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. The Rangers are undefeated when Hamilton posts two or more runs, but 8-12 otherwise. Cole Ulrick was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Santa Rosa Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School only posted an OBP of .160.
Nuview Bridge came out on top against Ojai Valley on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Knights blew past the Spuds 16-0. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Not much got past Johnny Aguiluz, who gave up just seven hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Ojai Valley off the board. Aguiluz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nuview Bridge let Christian Flores and Carson Lagor run wild. Flores got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Lagor went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Flores has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nelson Lara, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory got Santa Rosa Academy back to even at 12-12. As for Nuview Bridge, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Santa Rosa Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Nuview Bridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Rosa Academy couldn't quite get it done against Nuview Bridge when the teams last played back in April as they fell 13-9. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
