Basketball Recap: Athenian Owls vs. International Jaguars
It was a good run, but the Athenian Owls unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to International 57-53. Athenian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Athenian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Lucas, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Surya Devasenapathy, who scored 13 points.
Athenian's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for International, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athenian will take on the Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bentley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for International, they will be playing at home against the Dragons at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Drew's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
