It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hubbertville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Berry Wildcats 5-3. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Cole Brand made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Brand wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tj Keeton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Keeton also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Kane Rushing was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Hubbertville pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Berry, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Coming up, Hubbertville will take on Pickens Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Berry, they will square off against Sulligent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
