Recap: Crisp Academy Wildcats vs. Twiggs Academy Trojans
The Crisp Academy Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took down Twiggs Academy 70-54. The win was a breath of fresh air for Crisp Academy as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Crisp Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tucker Ellenberg out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Ellenberg has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Wilk Stephens was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Josh Nobles and Jacob Smith certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Nobles scored 18 points along with six rebounds, while Smith scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Blake Dupree, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Crisp Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15. As for Twiggs Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season.
Crisp Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Twiggs Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fullington Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Fullington Academy is coming into the match with three straight wins on the road, meaning Twiggs Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
