Volleyball Recap: Sycamore Has No Trouble Against Fairmont

Sycamore's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Fairmont Firebirds with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Aviators have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Firebirds, too.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-14.

Sycamore found their leader in freshman Kennedy Mallory, who had six kills, five aces, three digs, and one block. Mallory is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Tilton, who had seven digs and four assists.

Sycamore was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.

The win snapped Sycamore's losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 11-8 record. As for Fairmont, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sycamore will challenge St. Ursula Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairmont, they will take on Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
